When you start an adventure with your ATV outside, you certainly do not think about how the weather will be. But even if you do not think, you've certainly thought about what would happen if you drove it in rain or over the puddle of mud after the rain. Most ATV lovers like me work out the adrenaline in the body for that thought, because the larger the puddle of mud, the greater the shower of water when you go through the puddle at full speed. But even after such a crazy drive, we ask ourselves -- will ATV be corrupt after so much water on it? Will Rain Hurt My ATV? (What other ATV owners say) So will rain hurt my ATV? No, the rain will not spoil the ATV because it's built to withstand such situations. But the water or flood must not be higher than a few inches. Also, the wheels must be visible at the surface to prevent water from getting into the engine. According to the experience of many ATV fans, the answer would be negative. You will not spoil your ATV. These vehicles, although open without a roof, are designed specifically for these situations. They're designed to withstand conditions such as rain, strong wind, sand, snow, and mud. Basically, every weather condition. Naturally, like any machine, it's necessary to keep it clean after such adventures outside. While most argue that ATVs can withstand the conditions of any strength, there are cases where people were after driving, by water or rain, that ATVs were broken by the spoiled batteries they had to replace, while others reported having problems with the engine. This can be related to two causes: Whether it is cheaper and therefore ATV is of lower quality or are ATVs that are poorly maintained and cleaned after heavy driving. But for these situations there is an explanation: Problems with the battery on the ATV are connected with the fact that the owner of the vehicle modified something on his ATV vehicle or forgot to return the battery cover to its place. As far as motor problems are concerned, the most likely cause is that the vehicle owner has removed the plastic cover from the engine to reduce the weight of the vehicle. This is a big mistake that many people make since when you remove the plastic cover, you risk exposing your engine to the outside conditions, especially rain. In any case, if you did not modify your ATV, open the covers of the engine and battery, and your vehicle should be in good condition and provide you with the best driving experience through nature. Slight to moderate rain and a little water that will enter your ATV when you cross a small stream will probably not hurt the vehicle, because the vehicle is designed to withstand such conditions. That means, first of all, when a new model is being developed, it looks to make a vehicle that will sustain certain unfavorable conditions. But in the conditions of heavy rain or the ATV entry into the water that is deeper than the wheels, then we are talking about a completely different situation. So if you leave your ATV outdoors in the open air, you should consider getting a waterproof cover that will protect your machine from direct rainfall. There is another risky situation, and that's the drive through the water. Most people are looking at the ATV advertisement and there is always the part where the driver passes at a high speed through the water. It's all nice, but just on the commercial. In reality, there are situations when due to the passage through the water, we will rub tires and we risk a large quantity of water entering the ATV vehicle. So we need to make sure that the water is not higher than a few inches. How to know if your ATV will have problems with water? There are ways to determine if the ATV can hold water and the amount of water it leads before it breaks down. The first thing to look at is the age of the model. If you have an older ATV model, this means that it has already passed a large mileage and through various weather and terrain conditions. In most cases, such vehicles were not sufficiently maintained and already had some defects. And of course, in the future, it will create problems for the owner. The most common faults are with the engine block, fuel filters, and alternators if any. Also, wheel suspenders tend to quickly rotate when exposed to humid conditions. But there is a good side to these models, which is that these models are mostly before 2010, which means that manufacturers have invested more in-vehicle mechanics than electronics, and therefore these models are more durable because they do not have as many electronic components as they cannot withstand moisture. New models, on the other hand, have more electronic components that make them easier to control and enjoy than older models. But electronic models mean that owners need to be more careful of them. What is the most important prerequisite for every ATV driver is a manual for this vehicle. This is considered to be a kind of Bible among drivers. This is all nicely explained for every model you buy, what are the terms of use, what conditions, and so on... So if you still have problems with your vehicle, you should not expose it to further unfavorable conditions, but you should take it to mechanics and electricians to repair it. This way you will save a lot of money if you repair it regularly because smaller failures are less costly than one big break. Be smart; do not let such situations happen at all. Keep your ATV strong Riding an ATV in the rain shouldn't be a problem unless it’s a lot of rain or your quad has open electric circuits or similar. You should also avoid big streams of water, especially if the water is more than 1 foot deep. But other than those cases you shouldn't worry too much about a moderate amount of water in your ATV.
